US grant Japan to Invade Korea?

Today's news : U.S. welcomed Japan’s bigger role in regional security and stability, “collective self-defense.”

To me and most of Koreans, the meaning of this agreement is very shocking: US gave Japan an implicit sign which allow Japan to invade Korea, Again! Rather Koreans allow Japan to land on the soil of Korea, Koreans will fight against Japan, even hand in hand with North Korea if needed. What the hell The President Obama thinking? Did he forgot that US troops fought against Japs in Korea and many pacific islands?

Goodbye STARTAC III

My deepest sorrow. The 7-year beloved mobile phone is broken. STARTAC III from motorola. I bought it at 2007 and my hands were so attached to it. Even  though the people are using iPhone or Android phones, I felt no inconvenience. The more it ages, I become more proud that I'm using STARTAC III. The reason I can't fix it is that Motorola does not run mobile phone business anymore in Korea. You can choose among Apple, LG, Samsung only. Now, I am going to leave a good old memories with STARTAC III.

I don't understand peoples using iPhones or Android phones. A smartphone is not just a mobile phone. it has a full function of a PC. It is a whole small PC with phone. They are on-line for 24 hours. Most of smartphone users don't install firewall or anti-virus apps for internet safety. Their phones are exposed to cracking, virus, malware. And I don't like the idea that one must log on iTunes or gmail to use their phones. Why should I do it? Mobile phone has nothing to do with specific software. Recently, we became aware of PRISM of NSA and The Apple and The Google got big mony from NSA by leaking informations of iPhone and Android phones. For all that, people love to use smartphones. This is just stupid. Maybe someday I have to use smartphone when there is no choice. I wish I could use Ubuntu for mobile phone.

Welcome, IKEA Korea !

IKEA is going to land on Korea. They started building IKEA shop near Seoul. As a consumer, I welcome IKEA. Papers say many different ideas. However, good product with good price always win. Korean furniture makers became deeply stereotyped in running their business, and I suspect they are fixing prices. IKEA delivers reliable quality, various goods with nice price. The working class is feeing that their real income is falling. I have pleanty of reason to shop in IKEA.

I want to visit Ireland someday.

One of the best place I want to visit is Ireland. What am I going to do in Ireland? First, Ireland has something special. The air, the groomy overcast sky gives me feeling of fantasy. And the vast areas of grass under the sky. This scenic beauty can not be seen other place on earth. Second, The Galway bay. The strange shapes of cliff by the sea. I saw them in the tour guide and fascinated. Three, Sigur Ros. Imagine that I am in the gig of Sigur Ros on the windy green wilderness. It will be awesome. Four. Dublin and Joyce. I've heard there are guided tour that follows real places in Ulysses. And lectures for beginners of Ulysses. It must be a great fun. Five. IRA. From the movie "The Boxer" by Jim Sheridan, "The Crying Game" by Neil Jordan, to recent "Shadow dancer" by James Marsh, I've watched several movies about Nothern Ireland conflict and IRA. I don't blame them. Maybe most of Koreans don't blame IRA's way to fight, because the fight and struggle to independence of Korea was the same. This is the point where peoples of two countries can understand each other. I wish I can meet veterans of IRA to hear exciting real stories. Six. I'm going to go fishing to the sea. Who knows? I can catch a Selkie like "Ondine". I'm going to marry her.

Traditional martial arts of Korea

Many people don't know.
What we can call GENUINE traditional martial arts of Korea are only 3 of them:

Takkyun

Ssireum

Korean Archery

They are surely descended from the history.

What about Taekwondo? No.
Takekwondo had started around 1950-1960s by Karate masters who were Koreans.
TKD officials say TDK is Korean tradition, but martial arts studies say that is not.
Many people still lives and witness what was like at that time.
Of course, TKD has been keep changing itself and now TKD is far different from Karate.
You can choose by your taste and be proud why you chose it.

Except three above, "Traditional Martial Art" are not traditional at all.
Most of them are transformation of Japanese or Chinse martial arts.
They just say they are traditional, even with dozens of history.
You are attracted by thoughts like there are mysterious skill in The Orient.
Of course ' not genuine' does not mean 'not useful'.
Some of them can be recommended as a martial art for they have nice skills.
But, you should only learn the skill of the master, not the hocus pocus.

Especially, Qigong can be dangerous.
You can meet Qigong persons so easily. Think why.
You might expect you can impove your health with Qi.
Sorry, that's just a naive orientalism.
As far as we know, there are no Qigong studios before 1970s.
When your master encourage you to take more dedicated level, quit immediately.
You are not progressed any thing. They want your money.
The only thing I can say about Qigong is "Don't do it".
Why don't you study traditional medicine in academic manner, instead.
Just elementary knowledge will do you much more good.
